What is pomade?
Pomades are waxy hair styling products first made popular by their effectiveness in achieving men's hair styles such as the pompadour, slick back, and side part. The pomades of the early to mid 20th century were typically formulated with just a few ingredients: petroleum, bees wax, lanolin and fragrance. In the late 20th century, products like hair gel and mousse became the standard hair styling products because they were easier to wash out and capable of achieving the desired hold and texture of that periods popular hair styles.
Today, traditional barbering, hair styles and shaves have come back in popularity. The barber boom of the 21st century has not only provided a great deal of new jobs and created new businesses, it has also raised the standards in hair products for men. Over the past few years, dozens of new pomade companies have been born and reside all over the world. The birth of the water based or "water-soluble" pomade has revolutionized the pomade industry, as it provides a very similar hold and texture as the classic pomades but also comes with the added benefit of being able to be washed out with water alone.
Our pomade collection consists of traditional style hair grease, new school water based pomades, home brews, all natural & even vegan formulas. Happy shopping!
